Noosa was good. Except for almost falling asleep at the wheel driving up because I had been up since 5am, taken Emily to swimming lessons at 11am and then a birthday party at 1pm before heading off at 4pm. I could feel a few times losing concentration and then just a millisecond blackout near the Ettomogah Pub. Fortunately (and obviously), no harm done - we pulled over shortly afterwards when Emily managed to entwine her arm with a cheap plastic necklace she got in the party pack which was cutting off the blood to her hand. I was good after that break.

Sunday was fantastic - made me wish I had a week to spare up there. And the drive back at 6am this morning was not the nghtmare I thought it would be.

Plenty of work on, with another trial in mid November, just after I return from the partners' confernece in New Zealand, and a few skirmishes before then. The new staff are working out well so far, and I am looking for a 5th solicitor so I can expand my little empire.

I seem to be in a Gregory Peck cycle at the moment (see my entry a few back about butt fucking Audrey Hepburn). For some reason today I kept on thinking of that scene in To Kill a Mockingbird when Atticus Finch kills the rabid dog and the children finally realise how cool dad really is. I always identified closely with the character and Peck's portrayal as detached but loving because it reminds me so much of how my father behaves. I just hope some day Emily thinks the same of me, although without the rabid dog as I am a terrible shot.

Thanks!
