i've been job hunting for about a month and i can't tell you of a more miserable thing to have to do. nothing beats seeking out total strangers so you can do a little song and dance and in the end they make some rotten offer further diminishing any feeling of self worth you might have had prior to this experience.
but i must say i have learned a few things from this whole episode of my life.
1. always ask for double. you can always negotiate downwards.
2. after negotiating a new figure ask for perks in leiu of the money you asked for but are not receiving. ie: vacation time, sick time, better hours/days.
3. never be nervous and let on that you need the job. ideally they think you would like the job but are not depending on it.
if anybody has more tips i would like to hear them as am going to continue looking for another few weeks before taking up one those would be employers on their pathetic offers.
