sometimes this city can be so quiet. i think the cold and the snow deadens the sound. sometimes i walk on streets that i know are quiet on purpose, to get some rest from the traffic noises. i like the dance that goes on as people navigate each other on the streets. don't make eye contact, move out of the other persons way, slyly try to sneak a glance at them. i like walking by myself sometimes. i get excited when i can cross a street without having to wait for the light to change. i like checking all the people out. i won't walk over grates in the sidewalk, lest i fall in. i'm also leery of mahole covers since i read an article about a woman being electrocuted by one. the snow that's falling today is teasing me, it's falling at a rate of 2 flakes per minute i swear. it was a cold walk today, but damn that pad thai was good. i think if i was a man in minnesota i would go through sensory depravation in the winter. women really bundle up much more than men.
