WOW what a fantastic weekend. I needed to reconnect with my mom and with the town where I transitioned into an adult. I began my days in Bloomington as an 18 year old freshman and I left there 25 years old and married. My mom and I talked about my old boyfriends, being a Redstepper, football games, shopping in Brown County. We covered who I was then and how I became who I am now. We talked about my dad, who was and will always be, a mystery to us all. She listened as I explained to her what I've been going through the last few months and wondered why I didn't reach out to her as I was going through it. We both wondered if my distance from family my entire adult life contributed to some of what I've dealt with over the years.

I've come away from the weekend with a renewed sense of self and a renewed sense of family.

Bloomington; a simpler time in my life, before responsibility when heartache seemed devastating but before it actually was, when the only thing that got in the way of fun was the occasionally quiz, paper, or exam...oh and class! whatever

Hello! I'm back biggrin
Just arrived home about an hour ago, very tired, but feeling terribly pleased with myself!
I'll have pictures up within the hour! And of course you're not being nosey! I only have the two tattoos,
The first one arrived at a time I really didn't expect. I had just split up with my ex, and it wasn't pretty at all, and then promptly had a lot of friends betray me afterwards. (A lot of stuff happened, and I'm still dealing with it five years later!), Then my friend, Kate, got in touch with me after we'd fallen out of touch about 4 years previously. After we (finally) met up again, she proved herself to be one of those truest of friends (you know, the ones who never, EVER demand anything of you, yet will give freely). When she told me she was now a tattoo artist, and offered to do a piece on me for no cost, I asked her to design for me a piece she thought would simply 'be me', the design for the tribal was the first thing she thought of, in fact she designed it while we were in a coffee shop! I just thought the piece was perfect. So while most people see an abstract tribal pattern, I see a sign that there are people that you can still trust 100%, and who never want you to be more than who you are (warts and all), and will never turn you away.

Though I can't help feeling I've perhaps worded this badly, It's a very hard feeling to express.

But look at me... ramblin' on. blush

I hope this weekend has been the best a weekend could possibly be for you. And I hope you've been successful in all your endeavors, however large or small biggrin
