On my pre-coffee drive to work this morning I saw a look on this woman's face to another woman driving an expensive car and it got me thinking about envy. Everyone learns that envy is a bad thing, heck it's one of the seven deadly sins. It got me thinking, if I had a choice on what I would want to be envied for, what would I choose? What great thing would I want other people to be envious of me for? I think it's easy to fall into the material and want to be envied for having expensive things and ritches but what does that say about you as a person? I'm not saying I don't like money and luxury, on the contrary. I think I would prefer to be envied for my personality, or something that i've accomplished, maybe for talent. To be envied for beauty? *shrug* Beauty is only skin deep in my opinion, and not something one has total control over anyway. When I think of some of the people I admire most in my life, it is the strength of their personality, their ability to not let emotions cloud judgement, and their kindness. People that are emotionally generous without giving a second though, and people who are kind to strangers, who expect nothing in return. Yeah those are my words of wisdom to myself.
