I did exactly what you did with the bagel once... Those cuts are the worst, because you're holding the bagel, so your hand is clenched, and when the blade hits the skin, it's all tense or slack (depending on the place of cuts). For the next couple days the cut with be agitated by EVERY muscle twitch, tension and movement in that hand because of skin-folds...
