Work work workedywork... i have no money (like so many people around here at the moment) and so work is my main pasttime this month. No going partying for me. Except maybe on a tuesday. Or perhaps a saturday. Milton Keynes this saturday anyway.
less than 5 months til Christmas.
Better start buying pressies. What's everyone want?
(There's no guarantee you'll get it..but if you don't ask, you definitely won't.)
films:
Herbie: 7/10 It's Herbie. It's good clean fun. I laughed and came out of the film smiling, but if you're hoping for anything other than 'it's a car-but it's doing stuff' jokes you're watching the wrong film.
Crash: 7/10 Lots of words in this film, lots to think about, to decide who you like and who you don't and how you feel about what happens to them. It's not much of a story, just a bunch of people in the same place at the same time. I've never been to America / LA - is it really like this?
Stealth: 7/10 I should try to stop seeing films that have massive logic errors in them just so the plot looks smoother. It annoys me too much and i ignore the rest of the film. I missed the first ten minutes of this one. The plane strikes me as more of a puppy that has to be trained than a computer that learns. It's a basic american love story, with a bit of death thrown in to make you feel like they're in danger.
more films:
Dus (bollywood): good if surreal, what with all the bollywood dancing/staring/scene changes. I haven't seen many (say, three) bollywood films, and am trying to adjust so i can judge them better. Anyway i liked this although it wasn't what i expected and it was a bit sad.
The Perfect Catch: hmmm. i was dubious about liking this before i saw it - mixing romance with baseball... but there were some funny bits in there. Which just about saved it.
The Island: the script could've been better in the middle with the 'you're a clone' bit, but still enjoyable. Not one where you really identify with the characters though - more just 'oh, this could happen' kinda film than a 'what would i do if i was there' film.
and another:
Unleashed: 7/10 pure fantasy on the part of whoever wrote this script. meant to be endearing, doesn't quite get there.
[sorry for vagueness - as always, if you really wanted my opinion on a film you could aways ask me for a sensible review (i promise never to give away major plot / endings).]
love,
Cat
