Okay, so, I'd started writing an entry that was shaping up to be very long-winded, but now I'll cut out the first two paragraphs of uselessness to get (mostly) straight to the point, thanks to my accidentally clicking on something in the window and it not saving my text.

I decided to rip all my CDs today rather than write my paper that's due Thursday and due to a number of factors I ended up listening to my choir's CD from two years ago, my first year.

I remember when I first listened to this CD when I bought it that summer, I nitpicked. I pointed out to my friend Megan, who was also in choir, all the little bits that we'd worked on and not managed to fix, or things our director had clearly given up on trying to fix due to the need to work on other little details.

Well, they were obvious at the time. But I find now when I listen to it, the things that bug me are very different. The balance bugs me a lot more now. The soloist female singer's voice bugs me more than I remember. I seem to recall one of the accompanists in particular bugging me at the time, too, but it bugs me more now that I have some distance from it and I'm less used to the idea that it's not going to be perfect.

The little nitpicky details? Not so much anymore. Oh, I could probably still find them (like that one spot where we invariably go flat (okay, so there are lots of spots where we invariably go flat, so sue me)), but they're not my main focus now.

Also, now I can enjoy it and reminisce. wink
