All my family is down in San Diego. It isn't easy. Holidays can feel a little less than complete, and I really miss my two nieces.
Webcams rock though. My sister has one and she'll set it up so I can see the kids. I need to go get one of my own, so they can see me but until then I have a microphone.

There's usually events involving Karaoke on Tues and Thurs nights. I'm not much in the singing department, but we're usually at Temple Billards (near Pioneer Square) on Tues and the Boxcar (in Magnolia) on Thurs.

Seattle is big-time into Craig's List when it comes to housing, so I'd check there. If you don't have an idea as to area, tell me what you're looking for and I can give recommendations.

I wish that I had been able to visit NOLA pre-Katrina so that I could make comparisons. The French Quarter was pretty untouched, but the outlying areas were devestated. They are really struggling since so much of the economy is based on the service industry, but rents are so high that the people working in service can't afford to come back to the city.
