i like your journal entries because they are these raw snippets of thought. there is a level of truth i can relate to.

i'm still in shock from the last heartbreak. i don't even know what to say on the subject.

I think it's fine to be self-defensive. No, I think we're all OBLIGATED to take care of ourselves first. There are too many 'takers' in the world not to worry about yourself first...similar to your journal entry on masturbation (which was brilliant).

Having said that, I think there is a difference between being patient and 'striking first' as you put it. I think the better way, maybe, is to hold yourself in reserve until you really get a better sense for a person. Not everyone is evil, and not everyone deserves to be hurt. but you don't know right away, right? Be patient...
