The start of the Lion King always bugged me. You notice that all the animals that turn up to pay tribute are all animals that Lions eat? They basically rounded up all their meat slaves and said "Bow down to the new generation of things that will murder your families"
Also, Simba would have made a shitty king. He had just spent most of his life Hakuna Matataing around the place with his loser friends. He only went back to pride rock because he wanted to bang the chick he liked and because some talking clouds told him to. (i like to imagine there is a deleted scene where Simba and Rafiki take not an insignificant amount of acid).
Scar might not have been the best leader but he was doing the best he could, given that the land seemed to be going through a fairly serious drought, which just happened to break shortly after he was usurped. Had Simba turned up a week later, no one would have given a shit.
Instead, Scar is murdered by the very people he committed regicide for in the first place.
It is entirely possible that i spend far too much time pondering the intricacies of Lion politics instead of doing things like sleeping
