I have a feeling that the 'Mats are about to make a comeback. They may not get back together, but i think they may actually get the recognition they deserve.

A few months ago, albums like "Sorry Ma..." and westerberg's "14 Songs" were items you had to search to find. Hello EBAY!. But this afternoon at my local record store, i was shocked to find them stocked full of Replacements records. There was a full on display in the middle of the local section. They had every westerberg album except "Suicaine Gratifaction" which has been out of print for some time. Even Tommy Stinson and Chris Mars had thier sections stocked full. Fuck i even picked up a Bash and Pop album today, something i'd been looking for for months.

This could have something to do with the entrance of 89.3 FM the current, a great off shoot of MPR that is dedicated to good "alternative " (i fucking hate that word) music and local rock. Could they be helping the renewed interest in the Replacements?

Is it possible that we live in a rock n roll wasteland right now? Mainstream music is so terrible that maybe older bands like the 'Mats, the MC5, Husker Du, and At THe Drive-In will finally get the respect they deserve.

Paul's out touring, Tommy is out touring (when not helping Axl record the new GNR record), i don't think anyone knows where Chris MArs is, and Bob is still dead (RIP). Could the tours be helping to spread the minneapolis gospel that is the Replacements?

If you have an opinion or any ideas on this, shoot me a message. I'd like to know what you guys think.
