Any kid will tell you, that is if the kid knows me, that i am possibly one of the biggest Replacements fans of all time. Call it home town pride, call it amazing taste, there's just something about these guys that made me fall in love.

Several weeks ago, at a move out party for a friend, i got together with a few other musicians to preform as a 'Mats tribute band. I took the opportunity to get as wasted as possible and do my best paul westerberg impression. Considering the amount of alcohol i consumed, and the fact that i'm a drummer who is quite tone deaf, i did an alright job as "drunk front man for a night." Together with my fellwoship of drunkards, we blew through 12 Mat's songs and ended up with a pretty funny video of the whole ordeal.

A few weeks later i moved into my new apartment, a cozy little three bed room in uprown 2 blocks off of hennepin. The first album i listened to in my bedroom that night was "let it be."

I honestly think Let It Be is the ultimate rock n roll record. It has heart and integrity. It drips with both sexuality and confusion. It's the best "growing up punk" album since the clash polished thier sound. Certain people will argue that Tim or PLeased to Meet me was the Replacements best. Sure, those albums actually had singles, but as a whole, you can listen to let it be over and over. The album flows from I will Dare to Answering Machine. There are ballads, hard rock songs, and punk rock songs in btween melding together like an awesome gulache.

2 days after moving in to the house, i had Let it Be with me at work. After glancing at the cover again i noticed how similar the roof top on the album is to mine. I raced home and held the Cover up at eye level while my house was in the background.

My heart skipped a beat.

I ran upstairs and dashed out my kitchen windown on to the roof, cd still in my hand. I checked the molding on the windows of my won place, and the building next door.

This is when i discovered i live at the Let it Be house.

I have drank beer, smoked, had deep conversations, and hung out drunk in the very spot that Paul, Tommy, Bob, and Chris sat while they took a photo for thier up coming album. Allegedly this building was owned either by the Stinson's Mother or paul's parents.

I really don't ever want to leave this house.
