Looks like they are going to pass some kinda health care bill in the next couple days. I was at a fundraiser for Barbara Boxer, the Senator for CA, the other day (not as a donor) and her big theme seemed to be, "Why can't these Republican jerks just let us get this thing through so we can go home for Christmas?" No joke. They don't care about discussions, or facts, or what is actually in this bill. They just want to get it over with. I doubt even one Senator will actually read all of the many hundreds of pages in the bill before they vote. The system really, truly, is broken, not to mention broke.

How much tax do you want to pay, to pay for foreign imperialism, interest on the debt, AMA-style healthcare for everybody? Does anybody in this country even believe in freedom from government harassment anymore? Isn't that a large part of what America is kinda supposed to be about?

The government cannot give you health. The AMA cannot give you health. Sometimes, sometimes, drugs are useful, but they cannot give you health. Health is, first and foremost, a gift from God. Don't trust anybody who wants your money without your having any say at all in it.

I'm as scared of the government as anybody. That is why I pay my taxes without cheating even a little, and observe the speed limit. But pretty soon it might be time for us all to be brave and rise up and say "NO, motherfuckers!" If even 30% of the population engaged in non-violent refusal to pay taxes... even 20%...

Let the power fall.
