An interesting weekend
It certainly was. Friday night was the show in Glennwood, at the Minnewaska house. Basically its a supper club that has live music every once in awhile. People up there don't really appreciate good music, and nobody came out and danced until they played Sweet Home Alabama. Its a VERY lame song, but you gotta give the audience what they want sometimes.
An interesting time was had on friday, the crowd was okay, probably about the best I've seen at the Minnewaska, and our bar tab, was significant. Luckily Tim is a bit of a wheeler dealer and talked the owner into cutting it in half. So instead of $180, it was just $87.
We stayed at a hotel in Alexandria that wasn't too bad, the 'skyline motel'. After that, it was off to Fargo to the next show. We checked into the Howard Johnson and went to check out the bar. A dive, as usual, we were a little bit concerned what the show was going to be like, since it was just a bunch of old indians sitting around in there, chainsmoking and playing bingo. It didn't really seem like our kind of scene. We went back to the hotel and layed around until it was time for load in and soundcheck and all that.
Unfortunately, this past weekend was the same weekend as 'Snow Ball' in Lutsen, with all of the usual hippie bands playing there, so there was nobody to come out and see the FOY show. It was all right though, that just means its time to have fun and get drunk (well, except for me, since I have to drive). After the show, we headed back to the hotel, where we proceeded to drink a lot of beer and whiskey, and generally be kind of loud. Sometime real late (3:30 or so), this girl comes and knocks on our door. She said she was staying next door and heard us having fun and decided to come check it out.
Her 'name' was Adrianna (yeah right), and as time went by, it turned out that she was performing at the Northwoods Club. We had no idea what that place was, so it didn't mean anything to us. Eventually we found out that its a strip club. Tim said something like "Oh, so you're a stripper?" and she got kind of mad and said "No, I'm a dancer". I think she was hoping that we'd want her to strip or something like that and give her a bunch of money and drugs. I really think that if you take off your clothes for money, that probably makes you a stripper. I also think that she probably would have done anything we wanted, had we had a sufficient quantity of whatever particular opiate she wanted.
Unfortunately we weren't about to do that, so she got kind of mad and left. Sorry Adrianna, we get a little weirded out when strippers come knock on our door late at night unannounced. I also don't think that any of us are the type to really want a private strip show in our hotel room. It just seems really strange. Anyway, she tried to hustle us, and it didn't work, so she went back to her room and had to listen to us be drunk and ridiculous.
In the morning we got up and headed home. Not much to say about that, except that I slept REAL good last night, I went to bed at like 9 and slept straight through til my alarm went off at 7 this morning. It was awesome.
I can't wait to do it all again!
