Back in January, my awesome girlfriend paid off my preorder of the Conduit for the Wii as my birthday present. It finally released this week! I spent all of yesterday playing the first quarter of the game and also did a few online matches. I'm really impressed with the graphics and the sound, and the control options are way more detailed than any other console game I've ever played. The weapons are all pretty nice too, there's a good balance between them and some interesting effects about their attacks.
I do need to learn the maps for online play, though. I had the lowest score in the first few online matches and made 2nd place to 5th place in later matches. Still, even when getting my ass handed to me, I'm not getting as frustrated as I would in Halo or Call of Duty. Maybe it's because weapons actually do decent amounts of damage, so killing someone isn't all that hard with any weapon and your post-spawn invulnerability lasts just long enough to slaughter anyone trying to spawn-camp. The more difficult skill to develop in this game game is how to survive, not how to kill, so the people racking up the big scores so far are the ones who can get in a couple quick headshots and then get out of the line of fire quickly. Respawn time is a paltry 3 seconds, so it's not as painful as in other games either.
I hope some people on my friends list get it so that I can try out the voice chat!
