I feel like we, these people of the United States of America, have begun a journey down a road from which we shall not return.
A path with consequences that will not be able to recover from.
A road that has been traveled by the Romans, and many, many more us.
I fear that it may already be too late in some ways, but there is still desire.
We allow the greed to exist, to grow, because we each secretly hope that we too could be one of the elite, one of the few, a part of the old wealth.
A desire that is only possible through birthright, a personal greed that can never be fulfilled, yet we hold it dear to our hearts.
It may already be too late, but if it is not then control of this "...government of the people, by the people, for the people..." [President Lincoln], will have to be regained.
A trek in the wrong direction will have to be aborted, ties will have to be broken, people will have to be removed.
There will be mistrust on both sides, anger at each other.
Our country of 236 years young, must not be destroyed by a plague we all encouraged to grow.
The tools of law and defense will be used by the plague against the citizens it is sworn to protect, but do not be angry at the tool for it only knows the hand of its master.
Each of us must remember that those tools are our brothers, our sisters, our friends, our neighbors, we are are the tools.
A disease we still do not fully recognize, an illness that has gone without diagnoses for far too long, has become deeply ingrained in our democratic way of life.
An illness that has spread out its roots so deep that it now raps tightly around our beloved constitution, our source of liberty and life.
There will come a time when, not someone else, but we the people, will have to rip the disease from the body, by a force we will not like.
We must strike down our brothers in hate, we must not win by ignoring the constitution.
Yet we cannot allow the evil we created, an evil that now lives in nearly every part of our system, to ignore the Bill of Rights.
Those first ten amendments, mindfully crafted by the architects of the constitution, must be protected at all costs.
They must never be changed, they are the backbone of our constitution, the lifeblood of our republic.
We must continue to vote, have our voices heard.
This should not be done out of hate, not by blindly following party fandom.
Everything must be done for the good of our republic, or it shall not survive our passions.
Our republic must be saved, not from a foreign enemy, but from ourselves.
Should we fail to liberate ourselves from our own ignorance, then may our enemies strike us down swiftly.
For a life without liberty, a life with no freedom, is no life at all.
There will be naysayers, those who claim to be with us only to strike us down at an opportune time.
I do not support many of the decisions, many of the unconstitutional laws passed by our elected officers.
This battle may be lost, but this war is far from over.
Not all hope is lost, not all doors have been closed.
For as long as there are those of us willing to stand up, this life is worth living.
We must not stray from the constitution, for it is the framework from which all this is possible.
If we find any law or person that fails to adhere to the constitution, then they must be swiftly removed.
Do not yield, "do not go gentle into that good night." [Dylan Thomas]
Do not question my loyalty, do not question my faith.
I will forever remain loyal to the constitution, I will die to uphold it.
This is a decision that must be made of carefully crafted logic, not out of blind faith, ignorance, or fictional hope.
I still say the pledge of allegiance, I still believe it still has meaning.
A path with consequences that will not be able to recover from.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
May God have mercy on our souls, and save us from ourselves...
