Why do I always have trouble getting started on homework? Doesn't matter if I'm writing a 1 page essay, a 25 page thesis, a computer program, or a reading assignment.. I never seem to start on them as soon as they are assigned. Hell in one of my classes I haven't even opened the textbook! What the hell is wrong with me?
I used to have amazing organizational and time-management skills.. those are gone and have been replaced with messes, procrastination, and a perpetual lack of sleep.
In one of my classes this quarter we had to write the first programming assignment in Ada. It's been so long since I wrote anything in Ada that I had to bust out the Ada 95 book... So a couple of years later and guess what?!? I STILL FUCKING HATE ADA!!!
Oh and had to meet with my professor for that class and not only did I not get my program done before the deadline (I turned in a 99% completed program) I used a procedure that was not allowed for the first assignment! Just fucking awesome...
In another class, on Monday we had our first exam. It was 100 questions and we had 50 minutes.. so 30 seconds per question.. are you fucking kidding me? Well I wasn't the only one that thought it was stupid. The prof announced yesterday that he's throwing the entire exam out (good) and we get to do a new one this coming Monday (bad).
I got pissed off at Windows Server and re-installed Gentoo Linux on the desktop. So that made me a little happier. I also ordered a second hard drive for the laptop (750GB 7200 RPM) which I will be installing Gentoo Linux on so I can dual boot Windows 7 and Linux. If I had more money (or credit) I would probably buy a rackmount cabinet to put my server in (which is sitting in the attic collecting dust) and use it as another Linux machine (maybe run a bunch of virtual machines in it). Anyway, I want to dual boot on the laptop because I still need one Windows machine to do programming in Visual Studio for the Windows programming class...
I watched the first 3 episodes of The Walking Dead and I love it! How did I miss this show when it first aired? The only reason I know about it now is I just happened upon the first episode, half way through, while channel surfing last Saturday. I see they just aired the first episode of season 2 and I hope the show keeps the momentum I experienced watching the first 3 episodes.
I'm still watching Terra Nova.. I don't know why I'm still watching it? Maybe it's the hopeful child in me that the show will get better. Hell, I watched Sliders all the way through - mostly because I loved the idea of the show
(more than the show)... but whatever. Not like there's any Star Trek or Stargate for me to watch (which are my favorites).
Speaking of Star Trek, does anyone know what the current US copyrights are with writing "fan fiction"? I have an idea, and even a few thoughts that I've written down, and would like to expand into a full length story and maybe post in a blog someday. I haven no intention of trying to publish it or anything, so it would just be posted online somewhere for people to read that want to. I'm hesitant to post it if I'll get sued by Paramount, CBS, or whoever owns "Star Trek" now.
Anyway, I needed a short writing break from my current programming assignment.. which I suppose I should get back to now!
