After a week in the new house we've got all but a handful of boxes unpacked and put away. The few that are left are business stuff, some books, and some craft-type things.
I got program 1 about 70% finished in the C++ class.. between packing, moving, and unpacking there just wasn't enough time to get it done. I'm hoping he'll go easy on the grading (I doubt it though).
In my concurrent/parallel programming class the first programming assignment is due Monday morning and I just started it!
I will be taking my laptop with me tomorrow (Mother's day) and working on it during all of that...
I still need to do a change of address with the state and city business licensing departments.. I keep getting side tracked with other things (like homework).
So I am a history major and computer science minor (I applied to be a CS major, but it takes a long time to be approved/denied in the department). We found out yesterday that the university president, provost, etc. have ordered the complete elimination of the computer science department (severe budget cuts).. everyone was shocked, to say the least. It still has to go before the board of trusties before anything official is done. Since no-one knows anything firm at this point, the CS profs are speculating that they will allow those who are already declared as a CS major will be allowed to finish (either within the department or possibly merging what's left with another department). So I went to the undergrad advisor and applied to the major (won't find out if I was accepted until the end of this quarter). I was already starting to think about grad school, but I guess that effort will have to be redirected to another school now... Pretty sad/depressing that a department that has been part of the school since the 1970s is being eliminated. If the board of trusties approves the decision, I'm hoping that some part of it can be merged into another department (probably math). At least that way some of us students could continue on in some fashion...
