I got the wifey a new phone (the G2) and I took her old phone (MyTouch 3G slide). I of course, took my "new" phone and rooted it, and installed the latest CyanogenMod. This phone was so-so to begin with, but with Cyanogen on it it rocks!
Unfortunately I'm not sure the wifey likes the hinge on the G2.. I offered to switch phones (thinking maybe she wanted her old one back), but she said no. Maybe it just needs to grow on her a little? I haven't rooted/moded her new phone so we might be able to take it back and get a different one (not sure on the policy).. but honestly there really are not any other slider phones out there that I've seen that would be a good replacement (or even an upgrade for her).
So this is finals week for me at school.. I need to pass all 3 classes to get financial aid next quarter and it looks like I'm not going to pass the one class that has been an issue for the majority of the class.. The instructor is brand new and doesn't know the meaning of curving. When the class average on the mid-term is 19/40.. you need to do some adjustment of some sort! I've met with the department chair and talked about it at length but there isn't anything the department can do about grades because it's up to each instructor. You would think that they would do something about it when the majority of a class is failing and there have been multiple complaints against the instructor!
We got our tax return last week and used it to buy our first coffee maker. I was using a french press up to now and my wife didn't really drink coffee. We got a Keurig sing-cup brewer from costco. It's always hot and ready to brew and only takes ~60 seconds to make a cup. Not too shabby considering I try to limit myself to 2 cups a day anyway. When I was younger I slowly drank more and more coffee until I was up to about a pot-and-a-half a day (and not sleeping!) We also went and bought some chocolate and some hazelnut syrup to put in our coffee. Now I've created a new coffee addict in my wife... lol oh well, better than some other drugs!
Oh and a follow up to my emacs vs. vim trial: I'm still playing with emacs, but have found myself preferring vim for quick edits and for editing config files. Emacs "seems" like it might be a better choice in the long run for long coding sessions but I need more time to tell.
