In order to continue receiving financial aid I for this next year (fall 2010 - spring 2011) I had to fill out a lot of paper work and petitions because I have too many credits for an undergrad. I jumped through all their hoops and got my major and minor departments to fill out and sign official evaluations, turned it all in with a personal letter, and a petition form. This was back in the middle of August. The status for my petition hadn't changed in a month, so I started calling in the last few days (and the phone was busy every single time I tried) until this afternoon I finally got through. The girl on the other end looked up my info and agreed that it was odd that nothing had happened with my petition. It still had a status of "received" and had been entered into the system on August 20th (a week after I turned it in, mind you...) So the girl writes a note to the financial advisor assigned to my claim that basically says why the hell is this still sitting here. Within an hour I had a response from the advisor, via email, that basically says my official degree evaluations (mind you they were FROM each respective department, NOT me) does not contain any roadmap or outline of the classes I will be taking for the coming yet. I'm a little bit pissed off that they couldn't have told me that LAST MONTH instead of waiting until there is only one week left before Fall quarter starts! That's beyond ridiculous! So now I have one week to jump through another set of hoops and I know damn well if they do approve my financial aid that it won't be until after the quarter has started. That leaves me in a bad spot: do I borrow money and buy my books, permits, etc. (which are not refundable) and hope that the financial aid gets approved in time to pay my tuition before any late fees are assessed or what? Finding another part-time job might be an option, but after my last round with that it's 1) hard to find any jobs, 2) even harder to find one that is willing to be flexible with a school schedule, 3) pays enough to make it worth actually showing up.

My wife, while against the idea, did mention getting a private loan for school, but looking online (briefly) into that makes me a little worried about interest and having to make payments before I graduate. Oh and I would almost certainly need a co-signer so that might not actually be an option anyway...

Needless to say I'm a little pissed off and will be playing some COD:MW2 in a few minutes as an outlet for my anger.......
