Sitting on hold with th USCIS. Damn, even their hold muzak is the worst I've ever heard. It's a flute loop on repeat, and the same one every time I've called in the past years. Not even a full song. Just a short piece of one. And it's got sections where it just gives way to pure static. The estimated time I will be listening to this garbage is 25-30 minutes. Plus, I know from experience that it hangs up on you shourtly after that amount of time, making you start all over again. I only have a cell phone at the moment. Bye-bye minutes. They're probably not going to be able to help me when I get through to them, anyway. They usually aren't. They don't know anything except how to look up the status of my case. Which I can check myself. That's why I'm calling. The status of my case is that it's sitting, growing moldy, with spiderwebs, under someone's desk. Estimated processing time 30 to 90 days, my ass. They're past 200 now. I betcha anything they tell me "just keep waiting". I ask again -- why does the universe hate me? And what is the phone number of my congressman, dammit!
