Ok... Not sure how this will be taken. Call me cold (others have) but I say the seed of stupidity usually yields a harvest of pain and misfortune. In other words, dumb bitches get what dumb bitches deserve.

I was off to see Celtic Woman today at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO. We were heading to the City Diner first for a quick nache on some amazing diner food. We were cruising down Arsenal St. and we come to a stop sign at Arsenal and Michigan when this blur of a person on a mountain bike flies through the stop sign with no regard for his safety or the safety of others. He, however, made it free and clear. The next intersection (Compton and Arsenal) has a traffic light. Had the light been green, I probably wouldn't be writing my first SG Blog.

Anyone from St. Louis knows that this isn't the busiest intersection in StL but it is never a good idea to run a red light, as the star of today's blog found out, while eating the Ford symbol off of a passing vehicle (which had the right of way).

This guy proved 3 things, today:

1) Cyclists should obey all traffic laws.
2) Wearing a helmet while it may not always save your life, can make it possible to hold an open casket for the recently deceased.
3) Guys in the X-Games need to step it up because it is apparently possible to do a triple back flip on a mountain bike.

Despite my comment under "proved" item number 2, above, no one was killed in the making of this blog (at least not on the scene.) He did have blood gushing from his nose and mouth but he was actually able to stand on his own (which people kept telling him to stop doing). He was more worried about finding his cell phone and his iPod... Which will be a nice segway into my next blog... "What does it mean to be a slave to our gadgets?"

As someone who enjoys to bike ride as much as the next guy and has the utmost respect for cyclist on the road, I will say that I cannot muster any sympathy for this guy. Bad things happen to dumb people. If you are in a hurry to get some place, you will get there faster by stopping at the red lights because the ER probably isn't on your way home.

Well, I am beat and off to bed. Drop me a line and let me know your thoughts on the subject.

ps Celtic Woman was awesome and so was my Cuban Sandwich at the City Diner!!!
