So the great festival of round-ball fruitiness has kicked off, and even hiding at the other side of the world is no escape.
Yes those pesky Socceroos (Aussies have a nickname for everything from ambulance drivers to hockey teams) went and qualified and in so doing have sentenced us all to a month of yawning tedium while we see countless repeats of black and white footage of a git in long shorts, a linesman and and a dodgy goal that happened in a year when i was merely a sparkle in my father's eye (Excuse me, while I go and poke out my minds eye).
Scotland beat them the following year!

Thus Last night's drubbing of England by The Wallabies (yep, there's the Aussie nickname machine at work again) was an utterly joyous occasion that sent me back to the wine after only one night off. Here's our very own Queensland Red Latho scoring the first try - he looks kinda happy
And gerrard can even do comedy King Kong impersonations and still beat the English defence!
Second test match next Saturday and the Tour de Suisse to kep me happy during the week. World Cup? What World Cup? And who was Geoff Hurst anyway? I guess 40 years without winning anything since...
