Well it's Christmas Day evening and I'm spending the holidays all alone. I've never been alone at Christmas and it's not such a bad thing. I guess it may be in part to the fact that just about everyone I know had extended an invitation to me for Christmas dinner but I politely declined them all. Maybe it's different if you're alone, not by choice. Probably.

Anyhoo here I am, the Tofurkey is in the oven, the "gravy" is simmering and the cranberry-apple potato dumplings are frying...gotta turn them over be right back...

I did something today. Something that I've been planing for a long time. I went on a little hike into the bush with an old friend. We stopped in a small ravine and had a bite to eat...a last meal if you will. Then I dug a shallow grave and burried him. It's been a long time coming and it felt very good to have closure. He was already dead anyway.

That's me holding the shovel, and that's him in the shallow grave.

Not sure which image I like better...maybe this one.

I didn't actually bury anyone out there...what kind of whako do you take me for?eeek The photo is something that I've been constructing in my head for months. It started when I realised that all the crap in my life over the last 6 months has changed me. For better or for worse doesn't matter. What matters is what I do with it and how I carry on with my future. For starters I needed closure...I needed to let go of the man I used to be. So, I burried him. In a shallow grave out in the bush. That's what he would have wanted wink

This is symbolic of my growth from my experience. I can't mourn the past any longer. I must get on with life. I firmly believe that to grow, one has to let go of the past, embrace and accept the present and acknowledge the changes they have experienced and how those changes have affected them. To borrow a line from my fav film of all time, The Shawshank Redemption, "You either get busy livin', or get busy dyin'."

The funny thing is, I was so paranoid of being spotted digging a shallow grave that it took me way longer than it should have. How do you explain to a cop that your digging a grave to bury the man you used to be?

I hope no one thinks me odd now. blush

So, I've cracked open a nice bottle of Wolf Blass Black Label 2002 Shiraz...I'm salivating as I type...OHHHHH there's the timer, IT'S REAAAAADDDDDYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Later!

Oh, Merry Christmas!
