So we all know that on this day Mr. Lennon was murdered.
What a lot of you might not know is that on this day one year ago Dimebag Darrell was also murdered while he was playing guitar on stage in front of his brother and wife and his fans.

At the time, Dime was playing in a new band called Damage Plan. He was however, a founding member of another band Pantera.

I know that a lot of you hate metal. I know that some of you enjoy metal, but hated Pantera. I had the opportunity to meet Pantera and I want you to know that Dime was simply a really nice guy, who was a fan playing for fans. He was the kind of person that a kid, who for whatever reason, identified with his music, could walk up to him and have a genuine conversation and leave feeling appreciated and connected to someone they looked up to or considered an idol.

If you want a better look into who Dime was, you need to rent the Pantera Home video. Sure it's loaded with lots of metal riffs, but it also shows the band recording music, how they perform live, and how they spend their time outside of the band.

All Dimebag did was laugh and make great music for lots of kids to listen to. You can't hate someone for that.
