And so it begins....

Thats right folks, the summer movie season officially begins tonight with the midnight showings of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. "What does this mean to me" you ask? Well nothing...

...UNLESS...

...you work in the theater industry like yours truly. To ME, it means 44 hour work weeks, badass paychecks, and absolutely no social life. (sorry again Ant)

But...

Thanks for the welcome... You know, I wanted to know to the movies the other day, looked in the paper, and realized there were only like five movies playing in town because Harry Potter and The Day After Tomorrow were each playing like every half hour. It was sad. But I probably should have expected it.
becca_____:
How long have you worked there? Did you by any chance know Jacky or Vinnie? I'm not sure how long ago they stopped working there, so it's probably a long shot. But she's one of my best friends, and she was there I think for a year or two.

Did you ever watch the old cartoon Exosquad? They had big characters that died, and they flew in mechanical fighting spacesuits to boot. It was totally legit.
atomicant:
by the way, you are a dirty bastard.

can you meet on tonight, thursday?

la salle's at 7?

let me know.

God I hate the churchies...

They show up like 2 hours early for "passions of christ" and lurk around putting off "jesus waves" and god help you if you make eye contact or :gasp: talk to them because you'll be stuck there for the next half hour listening to them blab because you're restrained from telling them to fuck off and telling them you're athiest...

they want you to feel the power of christ.

seriously.

it's like cooties, but it turns you lame and you can't drink or swear anymore.

Avoid looking in their cold dead eyes, for therin lies madness. The madness of the christ.

Note to self, add Chico News & Review to Kill List.

That is all
atomicant:
note added.

as far as the passion, ug. that is all i will say. even my 12 years of catholic schooling couldn't make that movie good.

damn you, mel. why couldn't you stop with braveheart? at least that was entertaining....

alls i know is that when i show my girlfriend last temptation of christ, she will appreciate it.

We had two new-hires quit today. Apparently one of the managers caught them slacking off and yelled at them so they quit. Now this wouldn't haven't even earned my attention except for what I later heard them cite as their reasoning...

"I'm not gonna fucking take orders from some chick who's only a year older than me even if she is a manager"

eeek

shocked

heh.

wanna know when i was pissed the most in chico?

when i came here to look at the grad school with my girlfriend. walking through taylor hall, i saw what i thought was a stack of actual physical 'the onion' papers...

me:
"SWEEET! They have the Onion here!?!? Awesome... hey. Wait. This isn't funny. Awww, shit. It's The _Orion_, the award winning student newspaper of Chico State... Dammit."
calavphin:
That's fucking hilarious, I did the EXACT SAME THING

So I make the hideous mistake of talking with my "roommate" (though I perfer to think of her as the person I'm simply stuck with until my lease ends in May) and she starts crying and says she she's "ashamed that she's white"

......

...

I'll give you a moment to let that sink in...

...so, being taken a bit off gaurd by this, I...

i have to say, speaking from experience, there's nothing to be proud about when you were raised in a white, christian, middle-class family...
calavphin:
proud? no... but with most there is still hope for change, I'm living proof

So, I'm out cruising the town with Pat, and he says "hey, I got this buddy of mine who is working on film here in Chico, he might be able to use some help". I don't have anything better to do so I tag along.

Turns out his "buddy" is B movie director Shane Will and he is currently in production of a mid-budget horror...

Well the movie is done, (well shooting anyway, it's still gonna be at least a couple of months to cut the damn thing)

Admittedly, it was a lot of fun, and it will be nice to be are to go the video store and have my name on a movie on the racks.

Well, my gandmother passed away yesterday.

This makes the 3rd major event in my family that I have predicted accuratly...

...and the forth death in my family in the past 5 years (my father, both grandfathers, and now grandmother), all which have occured between October 10th and 19th.

Guess this just isn't our month.
