Our indoor cat is insisting on making a bolt for the front door everytime it's open to become an outdoor cat. With all the strays around, they'll chew him up in no time....so can't let that happen.
Adverse effect: lack of sleep. 4-6 hours is the average, with Brutus "alarm clock" Maximus never failing to up one of us at 7am, sharp.
