a realitively uneventful day in lots of respects bu then...

it was gorgeous out. it wasn't rainy like it seemed to do for three months. it wasn't also freezing. but it was warm enough to feel a little sweat. i love the heat. i've had enough of living in the artic and then coming to iraq expecting to be warm for a whole year and then finding out on the way here it even sometimes snows.

so there was that.

and then there was this book i'm reading on fellini that gives the artist much credit for their intutive ways and going along with something james once said about working in the dark art is our passion and then something about doubt. something big about doubt thus feeling that always at some point in my process it's reaffirming to hear an artist talk about trusting the instincts. damn i'm feeling a bit strange.

yeah and umm, some mortars came close to ending my life today. three of'em to be exact. they came within a hundred meters of where i was on guard. and i had that eerie feeling you get here when something bad's about to happen then my friend turns to me and says the same thing though i don't like to announce my bad feelings. then a bunch of stray dogs outside the wire started barking like mad and well they only bark at our strykers or us usually so something was up.
