Military rank structure is retarded.
I took some papers down to the maintenance basement yesterday - it's where they send people who are waiting on building access that aren't good enough to work in a real support job.
As I was leaving, their new ALPO stopped me, saying "Why are you in your whites? I need you to help with trash pickup and yardwork."
I couldn't help it - I started laughing and said, " I don't work here, I work for a civilian in PAO - I don't do the yardwork thing."
Everybody else kind of laughed it off and we all went about our business.
But the ALPO came over to talk to my idiot 1st Class, saying that I was disrespectful. So I got a short lecture, which I shrugged off.
I don't care if you are higher ranking, if you say something stupid, don't expect me to take you seriously.
I'm not military material. I should have gone with the "failure to adjust" discharge they tried to send me out on in Florida. If they offered me that again, I would take it in a heartbeat.
Only three more years. Maybe things will improve when I'm a petty officer myself. Probably not, because I still think the military is full of idiots. I just want to be a civilian.
Honestly, I don't mind having supervisors and being told what to do, as long as my supervisor is competent. Most petty officers I've met are just that - petty. They don't know what they're doing, but they get on a power trip anyway.

That's because not everyone is as smart as me...er...You.
*shrug* anyway, what do you expect. We are the best and brightest that America has to offer. Did you seriously think it would be different
