Fun for the whole family

Sort of? So I started my new job, in the funeral industry. And I'm really excited about it. It did mean I had to change my hair color after nearly 15 years of having it blue. I did get away with it being a midnight blue and black mix, so in certain lights it just looks like a super dark blue Bwahaha! I also have to switch out my lip and nose ring and wear a blazer and slacks or a professional looking skirt, but it is totally worth it! Obviously as an awkward little goth kid I could make a thousand jokes about having always wanted to be in the funeral industry, but my real reason: I want to help people, and how better than to make everything go smoothly for them at one of the hardest times in their lives, the death of a loved one? I have a lot to learn but I know this will be an amazing career path that I can truly grow into! I'm also stoked at how accepting the people from my job I left were about this all. They did a little going away party thing for me, and instead of singing happy birthday they made up " Happy Hearse Day" on the spot. I love them all dearly and am really excited to see where that company goes, but from an outsider's perspective

Since my hours are currently "unguaranteed" I have a lot of time on my hands to work on projects around the house I have been putting off, or starting new ones. Hoping to finish up the steel casket reupholstering this week, so I can start upholstering the new one!

Clear acrylic casket courtesy of the UW's surplus prop shop! Not sure what it was used for but I have SOOOO many ideas for its future! It is on a steel frame with wheels and a black velvet wrap to hide the frame. I was going to get some foam and I'm thinking deep velvet covering

Astrid is sure enjoying this new contraption he thinks we brought in for him, his new fortress

underneath is his new favorite spot!

Along with these reupholstering-caskets-projects, I have also been honing my bathbomb making skills, and testing them out on my friends. I think I've developed a theme line for a first run, and will be opening an online shop for them soon(ish).

I did create an Amazon wishlist for a lot of the supplies I will need to get me started on a larger scale and some fun stuff for when I expand it (if it's a hit). Thought it was easier for my own brain to separate these items from my normal list (since that damn thing is like 500+ items long) and to remove them from my ever-growing "saved for later" section of my cart. Damn you amazon! Once I do really get started I will let your guys know how it's going and where to buy (if you're interested in that sort of thing)

I went back to the Seattle area on Friday and Saturday for a family reunion for my maternal grandmother's father's side of the family. Not a big gathering and I am so glad they had a type out of how the family was all related...if I could remember all their names! But it was a good excuse to go over, see family I haven't seen in 13 years (in some cases) and to finally pick up the clear casket!

How's every one else doing?
