...about sitting in a hotel room, far from home. But seriously, I'm sitting on the extra bed in my hotel room (one for sleeping, one for internet-ing and eating), watching the news as the snow comes down, and sipping cocoa that is probably close to half whiskey and irish cream. I've been back in Virginia since January 7th, and will (hopefully) be leaving the 27th/28th. This is my second day off in this work stretch, the first one, we had play off tickets for the Seahawks/Panthers game in Charlotte. Today was an unscheduled day off, we made it out to the job site, only to be told that the general contractor was shutting down the site for the day within the hour. Oh well. Our hotel this time around is much closer and sits on a lake, so I will be watching the snow on the lake all day, maybe head across the road to a decent restaurant with stiff drinks, as the day progresses.
I'm looking forward to going home, but also looking forward to hopefully coming back within a week or so, as my best friend's birthday is coming up and Dad (bossman) has agreed to have the company ship me back early enough to help celebrate, and then get back to work.
I could write a rant about the work...my crew...missing home and my babies...but I think I'm just going to enjoy the snow and the day off, and this whiskey!!
