Ok, SGers. Educate me.
I am a classic rock fan, with some prog rock and Pink Floyd thrown in. Never got into metal or punk. Got a smattering of songs I like from more current artists, but for the most part the only experience of new music I get is if I hear it in a soundtrack or when "Weird Al" makes a parody of it. What's been created in the last decade or so that would interest me?
Bands that are angry or whiny all the time don't interest me so I can skip those, but there's a huge amount of music being produced and I gotta think I'd like some of it. Whatcha got? (It would help if you can provide context, like so-and-so band has a strong Who influence or something.)
I asked friends on Facebook and gotten suggestion like The Black Keys, Porcupine Tree, Fall Out Boy, Rival Sons, and I'm starting to check them out, but anything you can throw me would be appreciated.
(Photo is mine, of the local 70s/80s cover band My Generation. I'm not giving up on what I love, just want more :) )
