First day of classes was money.

Really fascinating courses. Love the stuff I'm learning, and hell, it's actually has a practical value too!

And I love being in the med school building. Really cool people (okay some are a bit geeky).

It just feels like home.

I got sleep!!

Yeah so I got back from the karoake thing, and people were getting seriously pissed at the queen st. schizo for causing havoc and keeping them up all night. So I casually mentioned to him that he might persuade people a little better if he didn't yell at them. A few minutes later there was peace and quiet. smile

He seemed like a...

Hey! I've been getting up early to recruit new members for our fraternity, and then staying up late going to frosh week events/parties! U of T, Ryerson and York this week.

So many new organizations to join too. It's too bad... frosh week there are too many parties to go to, afterwards too few.

Oh yeah... and while I was out I talked to everyone at a bar and some dude told me about unlimited daily long distance with Rogers! Cool ...

Hmm... strange how you can get CPR certified without gaining any appreciation for how fast someone's head hits the ground when they pass out. It's cool that you have to rehearse things slowly in class, but damn -- you'd think they'd give you a warning that real life is a little different.
racing_snail:
cpr classes suck, I was a part of St john ambulance cadets and every monday we did CPR and first aid an I truely believe that that's the only way I would ever know how to do it properly.
c_nirvana:
Hey I think that's pretty cool that you could save a life.

How did you end up becoming a member of the ambulance cadets ?

For a "professional" photo shoot, these pics seem to be a very poor job of capturing the ... essence of who we are.

Fortunately I have it all on film so I can capture the frames where we were "just being ourselves", if you will.

Also talked to a good friend and she really got me thinking into what makes us unique and how to...

Hey, it looks like you didn't have enough light for your photos. Were you using a tripod at all?

I like the idea of filming to do a set I've thought about it before. What program are you using to edit your film (pick out your frames)?

Questions, questions I know.... Here's one more: Are we going to see you tomorrow?
c_nirvana:
Elana >> I appreciate any advice you would care to give.
Criticism -- fire away!
Heck, I'll trim my chest hair if I can go from rags to riches.

No there wasn't a tripod for the photos. I wonder if the light cannot be fixed with software (I use something called vcwphoto, I think my friend uses PaintShop Pro or something similiar. He's a graphic artist -- I think there is standard software they use).

Well the recording (DV) goes into my notebook and comes out WMV format. The easiest thing for me to do is hit Ctrl+Alt+PrintScreen to capture a frame and paste in another program (Windows Paint if you will).

It can also be converted to .avi format, and there is decent software to edit that.

Yeah I'll do my best to make it out tomorrow after the frat meeting.
What are you going to sing for us? smile

hey those nice folks at dell promised me a new HD in 1 business day. bless their hearts!

missed the SG at the Ex event... AND the gym!

One thing i liked about living in a condo was the 24 hour gym access (and that it's private, and you can go back to your suite to cook up a meal or take that shake in...

Ug... my notebook crashed. Tried re-formatting HD and re-installing windows, nothing worked. Then I realized I just had to disable a USB flash drive thingy in BIOS setup place frown

Crazy stuff that happened in montreal:

4 of my friends there (don't know each other) just happened to be out of town when I arrived!

Motels are twice the price they used to be!

One motel...

Really excited about photo shoot tomorrow!! Friend is getting his camera's ready, i am getting my stuff together.

Ex-roomate is letting us use his poche building for background and city/harbourfront view.

With our combined knowledge of endocrinology/strength training, marketing, and graphic design we should be able to put out a really high quality product.

But the most important thing is.... I love the guys I'm...

My friend and I are putting together a much improved personal training service.

Montreal! I want to go for an event + business + contacts but am looking into cheap ways to get there (rideshare) plus a place to crash (fraternity, friends or cheap motel).

School is coming up fast and I have a lot of things I want to get done before I have to do battle with red tape.

went to a big family reunion.
really cool to meet family members i have never seen before.
quite the characters.

... a friend volunteered to do a photo shoot for our company's business cards/brochures, which is really cool. Great guy. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Oh and I got into the University of Toronto!! right into 4th year pharmacology and neurology. Now...

pebbles >> my main business is personal training at the moment. I really want this to take off. Got a really good team together -- people I really enjoy working with.

I'm hoping the papers will get me into a med school or other career in health sciences. and that my expectations are reasonable.. a job that is .. meaningful? and satisfying? ... though I have run into so many patients that seem less interested in their own health (taking blood tests or sleep labs) that I might just do be able to contribute more by studying the psychology of noncompliance frown frown
c_nirvana:
elana >> yes i feel such a weight lifted off my shoulders knowing that i now *finally* have a story i can tell my grandkids.
"ah c'mon grandpa, i can't imagine *you* ever doing anything so wild and crazy as going to a bar and eating food".
"ahhh you young whipper-snappers! dontcha know it was all fun and games before the incontinence came along...."

yeah paintballing or rock climbing.... hey there is a place two blocks away from me! and then there are restaurants/pubs/clubs in the area too.

... i'm still looking into that bubble-boy outfit

sadly, my father seems to have taken a turn for the worst.

We really want to go to our family reunion. We were getting really excited, and hopefully he will be leaving the hospital soon. Thus is life.

As positive an outlook as I have on medicine and helping people, it's actually somewhat of a downer that there are so many sick people in hospitals frown
