Okay, so the movie- Point in Time. (www.pointintimemovie.com)

All started when I was working back at The Great Indoors as a home theater salesman. I worked with a guy named Cam. He's 50 years old I think. Everything is just peachy there until Cam gets into a car accident. He stops at a green light because of an ambulance and a landscape truck wasn't paying attention and just plowed into the back of him. He sustains terrible injuries. Closed head injuries still affect hiim to this day. He has troublel with memory, motor functions, etc....Oh- you can't really notice- but he can. His life was turned upside down.

Soooo- Cam is injured and can no longer ever drive or work again. He stays home. And he writes his screenplay. One he has had in his head since he was younger. But he has time now, so he does it. He calls me at work, knowing my interest in film and writing. I agree to read a copy. I read it- it's GREAT. And this is just the 3rd draft or so. (The final draft we're working with now is version 21). Since The Great Indoors is going out of business and i'll be unemployed- I decide to hang out with Cam and see what help I can offer.

Before I go further, I'll give you a breakdown of the movie- It's set back in the late 60's early 70's. Involves a group of friends and one of them wants to be a motown musician. It's a good coming of age story. Anyhow, there is tragedy that happens and a journey is taken. Don't want to go into too many details. Anyways, it's a good solid film that has a lot of motown music. And the real stuff- Norman Whitfield, etc... Not the popular names you know. The REAL guys behind the sounds of Motown.

Ok- back to helping Cam. Cam starts contacting people about the film. I drive him to lots of meetings and sit in as his 'advisor'. Things progress. Mind you- we never have funding in place (and still don't to this day). But a lot of people get interested. We try to get Jeff Daniels. We don't (yet), but we get in contact with his theater director (director of Purple Rose theater) and things look up. I get ahold of a young actor (Scott Clifton- he plays Dillon Quartermaine on teh soap) from the ABC soap opera General Hospital to play the lead role. He's interested. VERY. There is also Sherman Helmesley, Martha Reeves, and Hunter Gomez (from National Treasure). So we have some people who are really into this. Check out www.pointintimemovie.com for their pics.

Anyhow, it has now been well over a year. Close to a year and a half. Lots of meetings, lots of contacts. But no money yet. We don't really know what we're doing to tell the truth. Usually you sell the script and let someone else make it. We don't want that. We want full control. We want to pick the actors, the musicians (and yes, there are motown musicians who are willing to be in this)- the director, etc... So we're going about this all wrong (according to hollywood)- but it feels right so we're gonna do it this way.

This monday might be an important meeting. Contacts with the michigan film office and also with other people around Jeff Daniels. Perhaps we'll get to the point where money is on the table and I can even get a paycheck from this. I'm not really too worried because Cam is my friend and I just like to help him and spend time with him. He's the most kick ass 50 year old guy I know.

Sooooo that's the movie news.

If you have any questions or comments, do ask.
