i got SHUSHED at an art opening last weekend. it reminded me of the episode of SATC where carrie and charlotte go the art gallery and carrie meets baryshnikov. carrie is making jokes about the woman whose performance consists of not eating for 16 days...when someone tells her to be quiet! i was looking at something similarly pretentious, surrounded by similarly over-serious types. sigh.

The only problem with buying something is that it ties you to the city. If you want to stay here for a while, go for it. You'd better buy a house near me!@#

I think as long as you HAVE to get up and do something, you won't enjoy doing it.
Also, you need a lot of money upfront to rent a house, and being a landlord is a pain in the ass. That's why everyone isn't doing it.
