Friday, Still Printing the Bloody Audio Fliers

I've been printing these damnable audio fliers for the last few days now and I think I finally have the hang of it. I had to purchase a new printer because the rollers on my Canon Pixma just stopped working one day (that day being the day I tried to print my wedding programs, of course). I didn't have time to take it back to the Mac Store to deal with warranty issues so I wandered by Office Depot to take a look at their printers. I found the HP Photosmart Premium Fax/Printer combo. It's nice enough, but what sold me on it was the ability to print directly onto the tops of cds. I thought to myself, "That will make the audio fliers look so much more professional!" Silly me.

Installation was easy (no wires!) and my computer had no problem locating and recognizing the newest member of the Mungus Production Team. I busted out a cd and began my hour long journey of figuring out for myself how to print on the damned thing. There are no tutorials and the only thing the Help Menu says is to open the Photosmart Studio application and click on "Create" to "Create" a new printing project. It doesn't tell you that you can't click on "Create" unless you select an image first, or that there are three or four different cd options and if you don't choose the right one at the beginning it won't work. I finally figured it out, but the HP Photosmart Premium Fax/Printer combo very nearly learned to fly.

The results are fantastic, but slow. It also uses a lot of ink so I've had to redesign the audio fliers so they have white rather than black backgrounds. Now if only the bloody master would get here.*1

In other news I'm taking our dog Scout to the vet today. She has a lump on her side that Amy's Cincinnati vet thinks isn't a big deal. We're getting a second opinion.

Also, I have seen what may be the coolest thing ever imagined. Molly Friedrich has been modifying a Carl Thompson bass for me over the past couple of months. She sent me a picture. I'm agog. I've been asked not to share (it's not done yet... there are still tentacles to attach), so instead check out this amazing violin she modified. It was this instrument that inspired me to seek her out and beg her to bless me with the kindness of her talents.

Finally, here's a picture of me.

While on my honeymoon with Amy my hair grew at an amazing rate*2, something to do with my being in the ocean so much of the time. My mustache started flipping out a little on its own so I started encouraging it. My father gave me a veritable vat of mustache wax on Wednesday so I tried it out last night. This is the result. I think once I get the hang of it I'll be quite happy.

1) Yes, you got me. It's Alan Moore. Waitin' for Alan Moore to arrive. He was mailed on Monday and I'm beginning to worry.
2) My fingernails, too, but that's not really a part of the story.
