CREATIVITY UPDATE..........

biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

Here in Atlanta we have a place called Eddies Attic. Its a top notch acoustic performance room. It was founded by a guy named Eddie in cahoots with the Indigo Girls way back when. IT can be a little bit lofty there, but you will not find a better place to see songwriters do their thing. ITs treated like a movie theater, no cell phones, no talking, no smoking...save it for the other half of the bar.

Anyway, I spent the day there doing a songwriters workshop with the well known Shawn Mullins, the not quite as well known Michelle Malone, and the ought to be but isn't so well known Ellis Paul. They divided the 60 to 70 of us into 3 groups and set us in rooms with each songwriter for around 40 minutes. Each one had a diffrent objective or messege to deliver. Then we all had dinner together before they opened the doors to the public for a songwriters in the round performance...that was so touching. I was genuienly moved by some of the songs I heard.

As for the seminar, I got the most out of Ellis. He was about writing lyrics (Shawn about melody and Michelle about the zen of songwriting). ITs funny that by the end of it the one thing I had learned is that I am doing things the way I should be. Outside of a few excersizes Ellis put us thru, nothing was said that I either didn't already know or employ. This isn't to say I think I am all that, far FAR from it. More that my lyric or song writing is headed int he right direction. The day added a hearty dose of confidence to push forward, and knowledge that there is a fruitful future if I press forward to it.

Only hours before I was to show up at Eddies Attic for this seminar, I picked up my very first prints from the last 8 months of photography Ive been doing. Up to this point Ive been only viewing them on my computer, and concidered it all educational. You guys..my prints fucking rocked!! Works of art might be a stretch, but they are really pretty and striking. I went to pick them up with a sense excitment mixed with the reality that maybe some of them won't be as cool or intresting as they were on my computer screen. I opened them up and was "Oh my god". Just then a few girls I know from my neighborhood walked up to say hi and see what I was messing with. They were just eww'ing and ahh'ing all over them. It was a GREAT start to a very fulfilling day.

I want to openly thank DanielK for all he has done to help me with my photography. I know him only thru SG and though I've never met him in person, he has guided me more then any other person by a long shot. Not once did he get short or frustrated with me (that I know of) with my constant line of questions, nor condecended when pointing out my errors.

Thanks dude....
