Hey SGland!
I have been somewhat inactive here the past few days. I have been trying to comment on all these wonderful sets and give support to all the ladies on here like many have done for me. I feel like this is the year my health just wants to start going down instead of up...so I'm not thrilled with 2019 in that aspect lol. But I have 8 more months to go that will hopefully be better!
So here is the update with my health issue: Last week I developed a UTI. Usually, this goes away within a day for me if I take medication for it. This can be common in people with diabetes. I normally only get them once a year or even less than that really. This one, however, lasted about 3 days. It was very uncomfortable. I started to develop some lower back pain about a day or two later, after I felt the UTI was gone. The problem was the lower back pain was where my kidneys are.
My son woke up on Wednesday morning and told me he had a dream about me the previous night and he was crying in bed. He told me in his dream I went into a portal and didn't come back, and that it was just him and his dad there. Needless to say, I was a bit freaked out at what he said. I still went to work all day, thinking about what he had said. I picked him up from school and got home, still thinking about it. I knew what I had to do. I went to an urgent care center with him (his dad was at work) and decided to make sure that UTI was gone and I just had a muscle ache.
Now I am not good with getting blood drawn. In fact, I have almost passed out getting it drawn...even stopped the blood flow at one time due to my anxiety about it. I had to get it done though of course to make sure things were ok. I got it done, but at one point my son, who was playing with his tablet, passed out after it was done. I managed to make him come to and drink water and have a snack, but it was a very frightening experience (he is ok, he just got scared for me...I think he saw my blood getting drawn). The doctor came back with the results: I still had a UTI and it turned into a kidney infection.
I know your kidneys are nothing to fool around with...so I got super nervous. I am on antibiotics for 10 days and have been drinking water like it is going out of style (one way to tell if you are dehydrated is by looking at the color or your urine. It should be clear or slightly yellow to show you are hydrated. The darker the yellow, the more dehydrated you are. Needless to say, I am pretty hydrated!). I have been also encouraging myself to drink a glass of cranberry juice every day, as cranberry juice is said to help minimize the frequency of UTI's. I don't mind cranberry juice, but I prefer amaretto in it ;) Unfortunately, I must abstain from that not only for obvious reasons (work), but it doesn't help the kidneys in the healing process. I have also been trying to rest a lot which for me is a welcome thing, but makes me upset because I feel like I'm not getting anything done around the house.
So I am slowly on my way to recovering! The lower back ache is subsiding and I am feeling more like myself. I had a follow up appointment Thursday since my white blood cell count was up Wednesday. I was told if things had not improved, I would be going to the hospital. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to go to the hospital...I hate the hospital. Imagine my relief when I was told my white blood cell count was down! Thank goodness for that! I am still planning on having a follow up with my primary doctor sometime this week, just to talk about it and make sure things are good and what I can do to try to lessen the likelihood that this will happen again. I appreciate and thank you all for the well wishes and hope to fully be back to my normal self and on here posting more pics and videos!
I love you all! <3
