The symbols felt like a smile
and I bobbed my head.
I knew there wasn't enough
music to go around.

People came here to find
other people.
I came here for the peanut shells,
the best in town.
The stale air got me every time.

They tell me if I buy enough beers
I'll get a free hat.
The hat is the reason I drink.
I even buy drinks for my friends
hoping to get that hat.

The crash is my favorite symbol.
It sounds like a symbol should sound
like it's punctuating a needless death,
drawing attention to a horrible accident
or emphatically denying that it was ever,
could ever, be in love..
