what do you think of moving the "of" to right after "6" ? or even moving the whole last line up one?

Mexico, D.C.
Storming home from a bad
date, black dress
too tight, hair frazzled
she broke a heel
fell into a bush
and came up at the corner of
lonely and embarrassed.
She tried to avoid it,
but she could tell,
she felt it
from head to toe
and her shoes were paying attention
even as she tried not to.
She spoke a different language...

My Old Joe
I.
Old Joe,
Did the electrics
Burn you out?
Old Joe,
Im told
you were a kind and
gentle man.
And I remember the
red Balloon you gave to me,
more than you;
And I,
recalling
as much as
I can,
Think; (Yes,
you
were indeed,
a kind
and
Gentle man).
II.
Those
Steam engines that
Huffed
their grind to speed,
Did they
leave you behind?
Or was it some mothers
Smother,
That wore you down?
The electrics killed steam,
true
perhaps, yet ~~
I dont think
your heart
had
hurt
there~~
You were
(too quiet, & calm) to
Complain.
And you always~~ slow,
Opened like a flower
just to say a
sweet hello.
III.
Where are you
now, my
Old Joe,
Good
Old Joe,
listening to 78s with
Mamas Italian gal?
Youre pulling on
Gods Wings,
Laughing
a soft and
gentle laugh
just like
Gods Laugh.
And before
I could shake
your hand,
just
Like a man,
Who had
grown before your eyes---
We were flowering
your bed,
Dusting away
the grime,
and the dead
and I,
Old Joe,
Wondered just
what had
memory said.

there is an instruction booklet
but it doesn't help much
in terms of tips
you will learn the basics
who likes who
this one is fair
that one has not been broken yet
but you cant really learn what to throw down
without trying it for yourself
the game is unpredictable
you can be far ahead
only to find
someone else has all the...

I liked your poem, its nice reading poety that doesnt concern how crappy someones day is. There is a great site if you are up to it, allready started thats been a long for a good while that moved to a new forrum so, there isn't as many posts as before, but there are a good deal more than it first started.
All the "I hate my parents" jr poets have seemed to been scared off the site. This site has some great published writers, and writers who know their stuff... so you will get crit... from reading your work, you wont get bashed the way some people do, people who right rock-lyric poems...
But just to add the caveat, expect some crit.
http://www.plagiarist.com/
click on Forrum, or whatever, and you can read the forrum, and my explanation of Kitty at the top too... I post on there as my pen name "mccarthy"...
Oh yes, do you write and have gals come up to you and say 'what are you writing sweetie? do you want a dance?" that seems like a interesting environment to write. Bukowski would probably have dug it.

Not sure how much you know about the major players in the Toledo scene... but Verso closed down Frankis a while ago for renovations... they were supposed to open back up in November... but it's March now so....
He had "The Scene" going for a minute... but apparently that's not currently active anymore either.
Kip's son bought the old building that used to be the Main Event... it's a sports bar now called Mutt Lynches, they have bar bands in there every now and then.
I got a couple different places I have access too, but I'm currently the main man over at the West Toledo Masonic Temple. They'd been doing shows in there sporadically, but we shut it down for a while, remodeled and our Grand Reopening is April 3rd.
Gonna do it up the right way now. We let other people book shows there too, but I pretty much coordinate any events that are gonna happen in the building. It's got three floors, 2 of which will be active from the grand opening, with the 3rd one opening up shortly after.
Anyway, that's the gist of it... I can tell you more about the sorry ass Toledo scene if you want. There are a few other people trying to make things happen... but it's gonna take a while before we can get to the point where people come out tto decent shows in t-town on a regular basis.

I was writing bad checks
at the bar
she made her 20 dollar
bill
into an airplane
slung it into my drink
and as she walked out the door
she told me she was sorry
i lost my job
i figured a drink would taste better
with a 20 dollar bill in it
but it wasn't really better just different
my new job...

This summer,
I was in New York
naked.
I painted,
I was a painter.
A painter of imagination.
My work managed to get some recognition
by a man named Lispen,
a dealer.
An art dealer.
Lispen sneezed on my paintings
and I made fun of him.
He was always naked.
Upon purchasing one of my paintings
entitled
Glub Glub,
Lispen bought a box.
A very...

For SXSW, let me recommend the following bars: Casino El Camino on 6th Street and LoveJoys on Neches, just off 6th.
You might also check out The Ritz, it's also on 6th, to see if it's your cup of tea.

Moving someplace warmer? San Diego has perfect weather. It was a little on the hot side today but is like 70-80 degrees year round. Sweet. I was just in Ohio in January for like 2 hours(flight connection) but it was cold as a mother there....

Doc told me to quit smoking
"Quit smoking and drinking" he said
I said I would
"Those are only addictions" I said
I can beat em
"Stop chasing pretty girls" he added
I told him I couldn't do that one
"It keeps me alive" I said "It keeps us all alive"
