to be honest, I've never felt so helpless in my life. I'm doing these books, and I'm fearing that there wont be a market for them?

I have like...books that I wanna do, but my sales rep guy just e-mailed me saying that alot of stores aren't willing to take up small press work. I don't understand why comics are the only genre with ONE genre. God forbid if I wanna do a story about friends. I feel like Charlie Kaufman from adaptaion:

"I just want to write a story about flowers, no one has done a story about flowers before"

I don't want to do a story where I cop-out at the end, put a pointless scene of violence to trump up the storyline. I just want to do a book about a time.but instead I have to give in to an industry thats nothing but people flyinng around in they're underwear.

it's a dark day, a very dark day in the world, when the creative can't be creative anymore. it's like "1984" again. time for the 5 minute hate, or however many mintues it was..

Write what you want man.....and there will be an audience. You just have to find your target audience, and Im not sure if you'll find them in the comic stores.....May be if you put all your books into a bigger collection. (Maybe even a hardback). Then you might get it into a more mature type of book store. Just a thought

You know, I'll tell you straight up man....When it comes to comics, I'm more into the mainstream shit. Well, not "mainstream" exactly. I don't like Batman, Superman, X-Men, Spiderman, Etc. But I am into more of the "substream." Like the stuff that Top Cow puts out and Aspen. Look at my favorite artists on my profile. They're pretty popular artists in the industry. Michael Turner and Joe Benitez are my all time favorites by far. But my point is, is that I've also read your work. You sent me those issues a while ago and they were some of the first real indy comics that I've read. And guess what? I actually liked them biggrin I'm not one to sit here and bullshit you either. If I honestly didn't like your work, I would have told you. But the stuff that you do has a certain human quality that should be able to hit home for most people, especially younger people around our age group, that are going through these same things that you're writing about. I think that if you try, you can find an audience for your work and you can make a living at it. People do support the underground man, no matter what artform we're talking about. Music, film, traditional art, comics, even here at SG with modeling. The underground is strong man. You just have to make sure that they know you're there. I wish there was something that I could do to help. Just don't give up man. Then there is no way that you'll be able to get your stuff out there into the world. Late....
