Black Forest
I've been doing some research on the Black Forest region of germany and my geneological roots. My grandfather traced my ancestors to a village called Gemeinfeld in Bavaria. Gemeinfeld was established around 800 AD or right around the time Charlemagne conquered the area to the east, Baden and Wurtemberg (the Black Forest is within this region) .
The town wasnt documented until 1231, which makes me think it was established by those who where fleeing Charlemagne's rule. Apparently(according to my grandfather) the town or Gemeinfeld is full of my relatives.
