I woke up late in the day today. This is how I prefer it. The sun has made its movements towards a finite angle, and the light becomes soft enough for me to see without squinting. Noontime is perhaps my least favorite time of day. Many people seem to find grounding in waking at dawn, and then an early retire. I believe that this is one way to do things, but aside from obligations of work, etc..why must one mourn the loss of light? I cherish the late afternoon, and its passage into dusk.. the late night hours when inspiration so fervently comes, especially for artful tasks. If Ben Franklin had never lived, with his protestant work ethic. Wisdom does not arise from an early rise! Wisdom arises from a tempered consciousness, from looking at oneself in the world. If one chooses to do this at dawn or at dusk, what does it matter? My choice is the waning of the sun.

Are you referring to Rutger Hauer? I like him in that film, though he's been in few movies that good. Another favorite of mine with him is Flesh and Blood. Check it out... a good and decadent barbarian movie from the 80's.
