Dragon Boat Racing!

So I took part in a toga filled extravaganza for rotary clubs charity races this past Saturday. took part in 2 of our teams races (and ur bast two times, i don't want to say it was because of me, buuuut the evidence does support that). I've been in a dragon boat precisely once before, and that was in year 7 as part of an adventure week with PGL, not sure that it counts?

Anyway, started off early. I only flew into Prague the night before, and so my body clock was telling me it was 6am when i got up ready to row. Turned up at the event, was given an ivy wreath and a diet sheet by Mum. Turns out the team i was conscripted for (International Women's Association Prague, IWAP) were dressing up as Roman 'Princesses' for this. Great.

And just to let you know, the guys in front of my (in purple) are from the removal company that sponsored us the the race, and the rest are husbands/partners of the women in IWAP. Our first race went really well, we came 6th from 7, but there were 5 other teams slower than us in other races too, so not a bad performance seeing as everyone spoke different languages and none had doe this before.

Family photo time. My Dad works for IBM. who also had a team. Thankfully they were worse than us in every race but the last. Sadly, they cheated and came first to see who was the 'winner' of the losers races and beat us by half a boat length. If anyone ever had a chance to take part in a dragon boat race or just anything like that at all, i really recommend it, it's great fun and generally really nice people are involved. The only down side I found was that between finishing my degree, working 2 jobs, and moving twice in a week, i haven't seen the sun much in the last couple of months, so my face ended up taking the brunt of the sun, I'm currently sat with an ice pack to my nose that blistered and my cheeks which aren't much better.

N'aww, look at those dangerously red cheeks. I haven't been this red since I first blushed when talking to girls.Oh the memories. At least this time the red will fade quicker :p
