"Chariots of the God's, man. They're falling out of the sky like flies."

Maybe it's just me, but I saw something at work last night that I can't explain. Being a weather observer, it is my job to know what I am looking at in the sky. Last night at 3am, I don't know what I was looking at, but it wasn't in the sky.

Lake Washington is big, and our office sits on it's shore with a nice view towards the north (Bothell). When I went up to the roof at 3, I noticed that the sky was almost clear, except for a few bands of Altocumulus towards the northeast. There are two red tower lights that I can see: one in the northwest that pulsates, the other in the northeast that doesn't pulsate. Last night, I saw three red lights. The newcomer looked like it was on the lake, about a half mile out. It didn't blink or pulsate and it wasn't moving.

Explanation: A reflection off the water of the northeast tower light.

That's it, case closed. Then the "reflection" started to move towards the west. As it kept going west, it stayed at the same height above the water, picking up a little speed. Then, it suddenly vanished.

Explanation: A reflection from a plane light that disappeared as the plane went into a cloud.

There were no clouds in my vicinity except for the ones off to the northeast. I also didn't see any planes in my vicinity. Besides, any planes in my area last night would have been around 2000 to 3000 ft on their approach to SeaTac. These Altocumulus clouds were in the 7000 to 8000 ft range.

Explanation: A boat with a red light was heading towards me, then turned to its right (West), then back towards the north away from me.

This seems to be the most plausible. I have seen Police boats at night on the lake. Only problem is that the boats should have their headlights on for safety. Either the PB was on some sort of stealth patrol, or someone was on the water and didn't want to be seen. Also, I couldn't see evidence of a wake, but it was dark out. I couldn't hear any engine noises because one of the air conditioning units on the roof was going full blast.

Explanation: I saw the movie, "Signs" a few nights ago, and can't stand looking at the drawing of Aliens from UFO abductees. It was a figment of my imagination.

Yes, this is possible. I will have to punish my mind later for playing tricks on me.

Explanation: There is something in the water at work.

Hmm...

When I got back to the office, I mentioned it to one of the guys and he told me it was probably a boat. Yeah, sounds good. I was only gone for 6 minutes and my ass doesn't hurt. That's what really counts in the end.
