So I'm in the lab today, hoping to FINALLY get some work done. I was suppose to run some DNA analysis last week, but my gels kept getting fucked up, which put me a whole day behind. So instead of letting them sit overnight, I decided to make them and run them in the same day...so hopefully it will work today. Again it seems like this entire thesis gets further and further behind. I talked to my sister last night, and she really made me wonder what the hell I was going to do with this Masters in Biology. I would really hate to graduate and then get a job where I don't even use what I've been going to school for the past three years to obtain. It would just feel like a waste. My buddy Fish wants me to move out to Seattle with him in January. I would love to, because I really like the Pacific Northwest, but I've been having trouble finding anything out there that pertains to my field of study. I guess I could be happy with an hourly job as a waiter or a bartender until I can find something, but I kinda want to get my career started...even if I feel like I would never really fit in there.

So last weekend was somewhat of a letdown. There is this girl who works at the local video store that I would go in and end up talking to for 20-30 minutes each time about movies and other things. So I finally got the nerve to ask her out...and she's married. Now I'm not stupid, I DID look for a ring, but she didn't have a diamond on that finger. Oh well. I also went out to the local Labor Day Festival with Ryan and BetteJean. Even though I really don't like Macomb (except for my friends) and small towns in general, they do usually have interesting festivals. What I really like about the Labor Day Festival here is the flea market. It usually is just a bunch of junk, and I enjoy going there to see what people are actually trying to sell off and think other people will actually buy, but sometimes you can find some rare gems. I especially like the book vendors. I once found a history book from 1900, and Ryan got a medical book from the mid 1800's (I really liked their explanation of "nightly emissions"). There really wasn't anything good out there this year, and the "stretched" minivan wasn't there this year either (stretched as in two minivans cut and welded together...yeah, I live in THAT kind of community). This will probably be my last year going to it. Good bye Labor Day Festival flea market.
