My heart bleeds for her.

Ultimately in the end, I just want Alex to be happy. I hope it is with me...but for right now I just want her to smile more. I don't think she likes her job. It's stressful, the hours kinda suck, and she feels like she's the only one who actually does her job there. It's in my nature to be protective...I want to shield her from the things that would hurt her. I can't do that though. I feel like I've failed her.
