Hung out with Cat for the 1st time since "the unpleasantness" on Saturday night. It was a little awkward at first, but as the evening wore on we started having fun again. She even suggested going on a road trip to Drumheller in the morning. At which point James invited himself along..."Bad James!"...I'm having enough problems with Cat when there are only 2 wheels...a third can only end in disaster!
I guess we're still on for Steph's wedding.
In any event, I called off the trip in the morning. Was up WAY too late drinking by the river with Lise (I honestly just wanted to sober up, but I can't say "no" to Lise...). Discovered that 2 of my close female friends have eating disorders (well really, who was I kidding...we all noticed that Anne was about 40 lbs lighter than at Christmas). Seriously, why? That is something that I will NEVER understand. And why don't their boyfriends say anything? Or their parents? Grrr...I really don't feel like watching a repeat of the Karen Carpenter incident, but at the same time don't feel like it's my place to be the one who says something. I've been thinking about just taking Anne to the Cheesecake cafe, and pretending like I won the lotto or something, and she has to eat a few hundred K worth...
My trichlorobenzene still has not arrived. My patience grows thin. Until I get it, I have to continue working on the 4-membered bis(NHC) project, which I'm convinced will not work, and therefore have taken to loathing following the aminocalixarene debacle that has been my research life since September...meh at least I got a presentation at the CSC outta the aminocalixarenes, despite the fact that we never succeeded.
