Ah, May-long...
So I went out camping (busted out the old VW van) with a bunch of friends (and Catherine) this weekend. She was supposed to stay in the van with me, but unfortunately due to some last minute shuffling and rookie campers who didn't bring tents, I was forced to endure the cold nights sans hot chick frown
What a good time though. Gratuitous quantities...

So I started 4 fires in the lab today. Damn potassium...Good thing I had the ol' liquid nitrogen handy to smother the flames (they were precariously close to the 4 liter drum of organic waste solvents).
Off to Kelowna tommorow for the Western Canada Inorganic Chemistry Discussion weekend. All in all it sounds like it would be a fun weekend except for all the chemistry....

And so we enter day 2 of e-mail withdrawl. I have to admit that I miss the constant semi-conversation with C. all day. It certainly made the days go by more quickly (if not somewhat less productively). Ah well, the girls in my office have decided to do what they can to help, and I get random e-mails from them throughout the day now to...

Why, thank you sir! And while I am merely an audience of one, my loyality is unwavering kiss

Crisis averted? At least it seems so for the time being. At least until the next time she mentions the word "date" not pertaining to me...Ah, the joy of ambiguous friendships. C. and I talked fairly frequently the last couple of days, and I was actually instructed to call her when I got off work last night so that she could ditch the ass in...

So she e-mails ten times a day. We hang out multiple times a week. She gets all girly and excited (very out of character for her) when I bring her flowers. She jokes around saying things like I should come around more often so her kitten will have a father figure. She knows I like her, and she dances around the issue, teasing it ever...

Wow, didn't realize how pathetic some of that sounded (ie: never even kissed her...) until I proofread it. At least I think it was gramatically correct. Gotta have something going for me...

Your grammar, sir, is impeccable (although, you used a period instead of a question mark after "What the fuck". Nobody's perfect). But I would like to offer testimony to the fact that you have much more going for you than your verbal skills (clearly, you had help with those...say, from a thesaurus, maybe? wink ). You do make a fantastic best friend, but I hope that only the most deserving woman gets the "next step up". And it upsets me that you seem quite distraught; if there's anything I can do, please let me know. I have very little to offer in the way of advice on how to avoid heartbreak, however, and I apologize for that. Head up, there are people that love you.

Weekly update:
Made a compound in the lab, that prior to yesterday, had not been discovered. Regretably, it wasn't what I was trying to do...sorta cool nonetheless.
C. had a really bad day at work. She e-mailed me to tell me about some asshole who tried to tell her what "type" of girl she is, and that her "type" didn't appreciate girly things like flowers...

Best day ever.
Did very little of any productive value at work (in fact I didn't show up until 10). Hung around for an hour and a bit, and then went to the Den to buy somedrinks for some of my students to celebrate the end of the term. Nothing like drinking before noon. One of my cuter students showed up, but not to drink...I'm...

Alright. So I didn't end up crushed. Actually had as good a time as "friends" can have...
Still, can't help but wishing we'd had a better time...

Drinks with C. tonight. I can't explain it, but I have the feeling I'm going to leave the evening feeling emotionally crushed. Always a wonderful way to feel going into an evening out with a friend, no?
